Teaching and research interests

Elizabeth Franklin Lewis is associate professor of Spanish at the University of Mary Washington. She holds a PhD in Spanish literature from the University of Virginia and researches women writers and gender issues in eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century Spain.  She teaches a variety of Spanish language, culture and literature courses at all levels of undergraduate study, including recent seminars on charity in literature, women writers in the Spanish-speaking world, and film adaptations of nineteenth-century Spanish novels.
